Concert updates and Yardbirds gig review

Just returned from a wonderful event called “Let it be Live” in France, the mastermind of musical director David Coulter, and Marc Cardonnel – 2 concerts in Lyon (Amphitheatre Fourviere) and Paris (Salle Pleyel) celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Beatle Album, featuring French artistes Yael Naim & David Donatien, Mathias Malzieu from rock band Dionysos, , Coming Soon, singer Emil from Swedish duo Loney Dear, and French-Irish chanteuseCamille O’Sullivan, and the Sense of Sound Singers, backed up by Richard Hawley’s band(all superb musicians) Both concerts were in glorious settings: Lyon’s spectacular Roman amphitheatre was a sight to behold, with 4200 fans getting into the spirit. I co-sang lead vocals on “one after 909” together with Sense of Sound colleague Paula.

Some memorable moments – Yael Naim and us doing “Across the universe” with a beautiful vocal arrangement by Yael. Camille and the band doing a stunning rendition of “The long and winding road”, not forgetting “Something in the way” with a glorious lap steel solo by Shez Sheridan. The hyperactive whirlwind of energy that is Mathias Malzieu lit up the concert with his incendiary performance, topping the evenings off with some crowd-surfing
